Not So Icy, Icecream Shop
On our drive out to the abandoned kingdom that dreams are made of up in Hokkaido, we spotted this peculiar little ice-cream off the highway. I wanted to stop and have a look at it but it was getting cold and dark fast, and we were a long way from where we were staying the night. I reminded myself we had bigger and better things to see, and we were short for time.
Two days later as we drove back to Sapporo, I couldn’t get that cute lil cone off my mind. Crossing my fingers that we were headed back on the same road we took on the way there, I looked out the window for hours, desperately. Then I saw it! That random, misplaced frozen treat sign seemingly in the middle of nowhere.
We were on a tight schedule for this part of the trip, but I FORCED Paul to take that exit! I was not going back to Sydney, with the image of that lonely ice cream cone burnt into the back of my mind forever. I needed to know just a little bit more.

And there it was. The most beautiful, giant dessert I have ever seen. Abandoned on the side of a quiet country road. A short walk up the driveway and we came across this cute little ice cream shack, weeds growing up all around it from years of neglect.

I would have loved to buy an ice cream from this little shop, it had been a long drive, but honestly I think I loved it even more in that state of decay.
