New Zealand - South Island on 120mm Film
I took 3 cameras with me on this particular journey. I knew I had to be well prepared to capture some of the most breathtaking scenes in the world!
These images are shot with my Minolta Autocord from the late 1950’s. It uses medium format film - 120mm. I get 12 6x6 images per roll, so I use it sparingly! $3 per image really makes me think twice before shooting, and really focus on my composition!
This camera is heavy, bulky, completely manual, has no light meter but produces the most crisp and stunning images! It isn’t the easiest thing to use, but is beyond rewarding.
I chose to use Kodak Ektar 100 because it produces such stunning colour! I pushed it 1 stop, so I could use it in slightly darker situations. It performed fantastically!
I may have planned our entire getaway around photogenic locations, but it meant that we saw the most spectacular sights! 4am wake-ups & ensuring we made it to gorgeous locations for every golden hour enabled me to take the best images possible.
I’ll definitely be making an effort to put more rolls through my Autocord from now on in!
